It's time for Hedge Funds!

In this new Wealth Solutions video, our experts from the Alternative Investments team discuss investment opportunities in hedge funds.

Hedge funds are seen as a key component of strategic asset allocations for investors, offering diversification through the generation of uncorrelated returns and the ability to adapt to various economic conditions. BNP Paribas Wealth Management has a team of specialists to guide clients in fund selection and portfolio construction.

To kick things off, Gilles Flament, Head of Alternative Investments, sheds light on the dynamic nature of hedge funds, which are actively managed to seek returns through adaptable strategies. These funds employ flexible investment techniques, essentially within quoted assets, balancing both long and short exposures. The four primary hedge fund strategies use talent-driven fundamental approaches and sophisticated computer-driven quantitative methods.

Da-Hac Truong, Head of Key Clients, and Michael Baughan, Senior Hedge Fund Advisor, delve into macroeconomic uncertainties and current opportunities for hedge funds amidst fluctuating interest rates and market volatility. Hedge fund strategies are poised to deliver positive performance and safeguard investment portfolios. In particular, long-short equity and global macro strategies should shine.

Adding more depth, Ciro Furia and Adrien Lalau, hedge fund specialists based in Italy and Singapore, underscore the significance of integrating hedge fund strategies into portfolios to enhance diversification and optimize risk-reward profiles. They advocate for an allocation of 10% to 25% to alternative investments, depending on a client’s risk appetite.

Wrapping things up, Gilles Flament emphasizes the crucial role of selecting the right hedge fund managers and strategies to unlock additional returns in the face of interest rate shifts and prevailing uncertainties. BNP Paribas Wealth Management's seasoned team is well equipped to assist clients in crafting an alternative asset allocation that aligns perfectly with their needs and aspirations.

Hedge funds provide a source of diversification across different asset classes and strategies and have the ability to adapt to many kinds of economic conditions.
